Default user admin

A factory-default switch comes with a single user namedadmin.

Theadminuser:

  • Has an empty password. PressEnterin response to theadminpassword prompt. At initial boot, you are prompted to define a password for theadminuser. Although empty (blank) passwords are allowed, it is recommended that you use strong passwords for all production switches.
  • Is a member of theadministratorsgroup.
  • Cannot be removed from the switch.

The switchadminuser is distinct from the Service OSadminuser. The Service OS acts as thebootloaderand recovery operating system. The Service OS has its own CLI.
